From what it says in wikipedia it sounds like he had a rough childhood. I can't imagine being left alone with my little brother collecting unemployment checks. But in the end he got very lucky and found the english language. From that he mad plays such as The Beauty Queen of Leenane,The Pillowman, and The Cripple of Inishmaan. And in the end he won an Academy award.
